Raising Money for St. Jude

Raising Money for St. Jude

Sarah Bartley is an artist and designer who lives and works in eastern Virginia. Each September, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital holds an annual Walk/Run fundraiser event there to support the work the Hospital does to find cures and save children’s lives. After being touched by the stories of the sick children St. Jude helps, she decided to dedicate the months of August and September to fundraise for St. Jude on her own ahead of the Run.

While preparing for her fundraising journey, Sarah was able to learn children’s names and stories from their St. Jude representative. She was particularly touched by one story of a three-year-old patient, Hadley, who had just completed chemotherapy. Hadley expressed during a short interview that one of her favorite things to do is dance. That is what inspired the design for the t-shirt, celebrating both Hadley and the work of St. Jude.

Sarah chose the words, “put on your dancing shoes” to reflect Hadley’s love for dance.

Sarah fundraised for two months leading up to the race on September 21st, and it was a huge success. She fundraised a total of $1,550 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with these shirts.
