Frogs in Space

A story written by Mojca Novak.

“My name is Mojca Novak and I’m a freelance illustrator. I’m currently living in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where most of my art is created. My community knows me better by the name Mocculere.

Frogs are not only occupying my mind lately,
but they also found a way to occupy the space.
Frogs do not only know how to
walk, jump and swim,
but now they also figured out how to float.
The planets are not very amused.

The story of Frogs in Space started early in 2020. At that time all I drew were frogs that walk on two legs and like to wear clothes. The sole idea of frogs came from my little story of Feli and Arthur, original characters I created months before. My community on Instagram really liked it and I thought I should keep the frogs “alive”. Well, for some reason I sent them to space. If they are already looking a bit unusual and behave like an introverted human, they might as well be living in space, walking on planets, and chatting with the stars. Space is still a huge mystery to us so who knows – maybe there is a galaxy out there with frog astronauts and planets with faces.

I sold over 40 shirts and that’s way more than I expected. It makes me so happy to know that my frogs got new homes from all over the world.”

Mocculere’s Frogs in Space design was also a finalist for the “Best Animal Design” in 2020 Best of Bonfire.
