Shining a Light in Darkness

Shining a Light in Darkness

A story written by Jordan Combs.

“I am the director of a nonprofit organization in South Dakota called Light of Mine Ranch. We help support foster families and children in foster care. Our ultimate goal is to build homes for foster families centralized on a ranch property. Instead of a group home, we want to focus on individual family homes and provide relief to parents, children, social services, and anyone involved in the foster care community.

Our slogan, “Light Up Foster Care” is very special because it has a universal meaning. We created a shirt through Bonfire to easily raise money while providing an awesome shirt and message. For our organization, it is so much better than stockpiling inventory and shipping all over the country.

The price of the shirt is $22.22 to highlight that every 2 minutes a child enters foster care. Proceeds from our shirt sales go to our programs that directly help support foster families and children in foster care.

We do encourage others to use the hashtag #lightupfostercare when sharing stories of hope! Although we are just one organization, we believe foster care awareness needs to improve across the entire United States.”
