Nicole Showalter created a Bonfire campaign to help raise money and awareness for her father, Todd’s Phrenic Nerve Repair surgery. In December of 2017, Todd had a routine shoulder surgery that ended in complications that drastically impacted his life.
As a new way of administering pain medication to help curve the opioid crisis, the surgeons inserted a pain block through his neck for post-surgery recovery. However, when inserting the pain block, the anesthesiologist severed her father’s Phrenic nerve. This is the nerve that controls the diaphragm. Todd’s diaphragm is now paralyzed, causing him to lose function and only operate at 60% breathing capacity. Being a self-employed carpenter and home remodeler, this has drastically affected his work and everyday life.
Tees for the Support Team
Family and friends wishing to help Todd in his time of financial and physical need wear their “Breathe Hope” tees to show their support.
Nicole’s father’s insurance will not cover the surgery since it is out of state and only one surgeon is currently doing this amazing surgery. The “Breathe Hope” shirts are helping them in their mission of raising $60,000 to cover the cost of this life-changing surgery.
This t-shirt campaign not only helps Nicole and her family fundraise for Todd’s medical costs, but it also provides a way for friends and family to show their support by rocking their matching tees.
